Richard was part of the IPCC panel that won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007 

Richard has worked as a scientific and policy adviser on climate change issues for a wide range of governmental, business and international organisations, including the UK and Mexican Governments, BP and BAT, the OECD and UNEP. He has been a Lead Author on two IPCC reports and was part of the management team for the World Business Council for Sustainable Development’s initiative on greenhouse gas accounting for projects. As Managing Director of Ecometrica, he is responsible for managing and developing a team of analysts and researchers with complementary expertise in environmental change assessment, project and programme management, lifecycle studies and economic development processes.

Bertrand spent a number of years working for the Corporate Executive Board advising Fortune 500 corporations on key management best practices in dealing with key emerging business issues.

 

Before joining Ecometrica, Bertrand headed up Camco’s greenhouse gas assessment services in North America. In that capacity he has worked with companies in the financial, energy, agricultural, and publishing sectors on greenhouse gas assessments and management. Bertrand also worked for the World Bank on sustainable development in Eastern Europe, focusing on the development of IT systems to improve environmental decision making. He graduated with a Masters degree in Atmospheric Sciences (with a focus on Climate Change) from McGill University. In addition, Bertrand spent a number of years working for the Corporate Executive Board advising Fortune 500 corporations on key management best practices in dealing with emerging business issues.

Recent experience includes advising the Carbon Trust on the development of a standard methodology for corporate footprinting. 

Gary is operations director at Ecometrica and an experienced consultant specialising in the quantification of greenhouse gas emissions. He has a first class BSc (Hons) in Physical Geography from the University of Edinburgh.

Gary’s key skills are in GHG emissions assessment and analysis, emissions modelling, emissions baseline calculation, bespoke emissions calculation tools, bespoke emissions monitoring and reporting tools, and modelling the carbon uptake from forestry and land use systems. Gary has over five years GHG analytical experience across a range of industries in the UK and overseas. Recent experience includes project managing the PAS 2050 compliant assessment of beverages for a major brewer and advising the Carbon Trust on the development of a standard methodology for corporate footprinting.


Our Knowledge

Ecometrica builds knowledge through working at the interface between research and business application.

Our senior staff have strong experience in international research into subjects such as bioenergy and ecosystem management, climate change mitigation and climate policy. They perform advisory roles for scientific groups including the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), as well as government and industry panels in the development of standards and good practice.

Our approach is to foster the development of analyst research skills through involvement in research projects and the provision of training and teaching on courses - including the Masters in Carbon Management at the University of Edinburgh and professional development courses at Imperial College London.

We work with partners and provide tools to deliver information to appropriate levels of accuracy, completeness and relevance faster and more efficiently than any other method.
