Ecometrica Platform named Environmental Leader Product of the Year for the fourth time

Ecometrica has won the prestigious US Environmental Leader Product of the Year Award for the fourth consecutive year for the Ecometrica Platform, which helps business, governments and society to understand and monitor environmental impacts, and protect the planet’s resources for existing and future generations.

The Environmental Leader judges described Ecometrica Platform as a “very solid platform distinguished by the ability to leverage spatial data.”

They added: “This is sustainability at its best, combining engineering, science, IT and high tech to help in data collection and decision making. The Ecometrica Platform… is proven to be innovative, taking advantage of spatial data to drive business decisions. Kind of mind blowing what the potential might be in terms of creating sustainable development opportunities.”

Used around the world by large corporates and governments, the Ecometrica Platform combines sustainability and geospatial data with information gathered on the ground to create detailed maps and analytics, which show changes to forest ecosystems, crops and even soil moisture. The company’s flagship contract was awarded by the UK Space Agency’s International Partnership Programme (IPP), which sees Ecometrica spearhead the ‘Forests 2020‘ project, and is also working with a multitude of large private corporate companies, including Aggreko, Pearson and Direct Line.

Gary Davis, chief executive of Ecometrica, said: “It is an honour to win the Environmental Leader Product of the Year for a fourth year in a row. It’s a testament to the quality of the Ecometrica Platform, which is redefining and setting the global standard for geospatial sustainability reporting and also to the ability of our talented team to constantly innovate and evolve in response to technological advancements”.

An independent panel of industry experts judge the entries each year. The winners are selected based on the success of the project, the capabilities of the product and the positive effect on the industry. The winners were formally recognized and celebrated at the Environmental Leader & Energy Manager Conference on May 14, 2019 at the Marriott Denver Tech Center.

The award is the latest in a long list of accolades, which in 2019 alone has seen Ecometrica named on the Financial Times FT 1000 of Europe’s Fastest Growing Companies, and won the GP Bullhound Tech4Good Award at the Northern Tech Awards, and been named Digital Technology Business of the Year by ScotlandIS.
