Press Release : Spirax Sarco

Today Ecometrica is pleased to announce that it recently engaged with British manufacturer of a broad range of fluid control products for steam systems, Spirax Sarco to provide a climate risk resilience report for some of its global manufacturing sites. The organisation had been looking to better understand its exposure to physical risk related to climate change, help making decisions around improving their climate resilience.

Ecometrica has developed climate change physical risk products that provide insights on future risk from physical impacts of climate change, indicating whether the estimated risk is either:

  1. expected to increase, decrease or remain stable for a company’s assets
  2. expected to be severe, very high, high, medium or low

Ecometrica’s Climate Resilience solution is generated using the Ecometrica Mapping Platform and Business Intelligence (BI) dashboard tools which its customers use to summarise the Earth Observation (EO) derived indicators. In this instance the results were provided as a one-off report to effectively provide an overview of the climate change risks at selected Spirax Sarco sites across 13 countries.

Mapping Platform

Different industry sectors and geographic settings have varying physical climate risks. Knowing which risks to focus on requires understanding your business, mapping the global footprint of its operations, and assessing against different future climate scenarios.

Ecometrica’s Mapping Platform and TCFD risk assessor comes pre-loaded with multiple future climate scenarios covering a wide range of temperature outcomes, including Paris aligned scenarios. By mapping your business’ direct operations, and its suppliers, its customers can quickly understand the headline physical climate risks for each location, both direct and indirect.

Physical risk metrics include river flooding, heat extremes, cold extremes, water resource availability, energy demand, coastal flooding and sea level rise, and many more.

Ecometrica Mapping bridges the gap between data generation and usefulness by allowing geographically diverse teams to organize, analyse and distribute spatial data driven information and results on a single platform.
