Mandatory GHG Reporting Regulations Approved by Commons

Ecometrica Senior Analyst, Matthew BranderThe regulations for introducing mandatory greenhouse gas reporting (the Companies Act 2006 (Strategic Report and Directors’ Report) Regulations 2013) were approved by the House of Commons yesterday morning (Tuesday 16 July), and will go to the House of Lords later this week.

This means that the reporting requirements will very shortly be law, and listed companies need to be collecting data and have a plan for how they will calculate their emissions.

The new regulations require all reports produced in relation to financial years ending on or after 30th September 2013 to disclose GHG emissions. The regulations themselves come into force from 1st October 2013.
